I’m Cuban, but from a very special place.

Born and raised on the “Cerro”, from the cradle I was surrounded by Cuban music like rumba, songs of the Nueva Trova I heard from my mother, the “Punto Guajiro” sang by my grandmother, and also son and salsa that were danced at the parties in my neighborhood…

Music classes in Cuba

Music classes in Cuba, and more in “Cerro” neighborhood, start at dawn and do not stop until the next day. Even the roosters here have their part in the Cuban musicality, serving as natural alarm clocks. A cup of coffee and off to the street: there you will find all music genres and none of them in particular, because the Cuban enjoys music and likes to share it with others.

And if the Alacran “comparsa” appears to celebrate a victory in baseball, then you’re going to know what means to share with others and enjoy a party in Cuba! That crowd will spontaneously stop the traffic on the streets!

Music classes in Cuba are everywhere

From an older man playing a bolero at the bus stop (for the simple pleasure of singing) to the reggaeton coming from the speakers of a cell, music classes in Cuba cover all genres, all ages and all social classes.

You can also learn music at night. We are used that throughout the week, all those Cuban bands than win those Grammys and astonish the world, play just around the corner. There are plenty of nightclubs where money is not an issue: Cuban musicians know their people is a severe public and what does not succeed here will not succeed anywhere else.

The best prize? The explosive applause or the fiery dance.

The best teachers in the world, because they are your friends

If you talk about the best Cuban music teachers you are talking about our teachers. Women and Men simple and jovial, that will applaud you when you do it right or give you a friendly “cocotazo” when you don’t get the Cuban clave right, trying to get you that Cuban rhythm in your head.

But when they take in their hands their instrument, you will realize that talent has no limits and that has led Cuba to the highest levels of recognition in the musical international sphere.

I took my first music lessons in Cuba with teachers who are now members of bands that have given the world the whole round. Like me, many others have had the same chance. Because to teach music in Cuba, you need to be a true teacher, not only in pedagogy but also in virtuosity.
